Apple Stock News: Perplexity has released a local version of Perplexity Computer for Mac on Apple silicon chips. The AI model, task planning, reasoning, and file processing run on-device (36GB of RAM or more is recommended), while code execution runs in an isolated sandbox environment. The assistant works with native apps (Notes, Messages, Mail, Keynote, Numbers) without sending personal data to the cloud.

For less powerful Macs (24GB of RAM or more), Hybrid Compute is available (a mix of local and cloud models). If necessary, users can authorize internet access for the browser or cloud apps, spend credits, or connect one of 15+ frontier cloud models. The feature is available with Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscriptions.

Battery Capacity

According to the EU energy label published on Friday, the iPhone Duo has a 4,883 mAh battery (2,962 mAh and 1,921 mAh cells). Since the device supports eSIM only, this capacity is identical across all regions. For comparison: the eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro has a 4,288 mAh battery, and the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,567 mAh battery.

Patent Verdict

Taction Technology is seeking additional payments from Apple on top of the $5.7 billion verdict for infringing haptic feedback patents with its Taptic Engine. Besides compensation for six months of sales not included in the jury’s calculation, the plaintiff demands 7% annual interest under California law. Taction also insists on royalties for future sales until the patents expire on September 24, 2035, with quarterly reporting. Newer models, including the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple Watch Series 12, should also be covered as their technology has not changed enough to bypass the patents. To support this, Taction cites Apple’s previous litigation against Samsung, where Apple took a similar position regarding royalties on newer products. Apple disputes the verdict and the damages amount, arguing its technology is fundamentally different, and intends to appeal.
