Apple’s (AAPL) Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will happen in San Francisco on June 2-6. The conference is sure generate tons of Apple stock news all across the internet. Over a thousand apple engineers and 5,000 developers will gather to hear what the tech giant has in stock for the near future. The Internet is ripe with commentaries ranging from realistic predictions to Apple Fan Boys’ wildest dreams and desires. Whatever happens, the event is sure to be exciting and influential on the world of technology.

Let’s take a look at a few of the most plausible announcements to be expected over the next few days.

IOS 8

Many of the rumors are focused on software, and more specifically, the iPhone’s iOS software. Considering that iOS 7 was a major update with a completely new look, iOS will most likely stay with a similar design and just enhance the experience with new apps and features. Analysts are predicting an update to iOS 7 which could include a new health and fitness tracking app called Healthbook. Healthbook would most likely have an interface similar to the current Passbook app, which would include colorful card-like slides to keep track of vitals like heart rate, nutrition, and sleep patterns among a few others. Another rumor has indicated that apple will debut split-screen multitasking for the iPad. This feature marks a response from Apple to keep its footing in the battle against Microsoft in the tablet market. Apple critics are quick to remark that Microsoft and Windows 8 is a more useable and workspace friendly interface than the iPad iOS, and thus adding split screen functionality would be a great new feature.

OS X 11

Apple’s desktop operating system is also expected to get an update. Analysts are reporting that OS X has a major update coming that will greatly change the interface in a fashion similar to iOS7. This update could include a more minimalist look with updated icon designs and a flatter over-all interface.

Hardware

Hardware updates have been reported to be fairly unlikely at WWDC, but everything is possible with Apple. Some possible hardware updates could include a larger iPad like Microsofts Surface Pro 3, a new Apple TV box with “smart home” integration, an updated and larger iPhone (very unlikely), or even a smart-watch.

Apple is on a run of strong quarterly earnings, a 7-1 stock split that will take effect on Monday, and plans to repurchase billions in shares.
