Apple Inc., which is notorious for rarely doing promotional pricing, has confirmed that select stores in California and Massachusetts will be offering $50 off any purchase of an Apple Watch and any new iPhone. The discount is being offered from today, November 1st, until November 15th.
This news leads some to speculate that the promotion is a result of poor watch sales. Apple’s most recent earnings report did not indicate exactly how many watches were sold.
Another theory as to why Apple is doing such a rare promotion is that Apple is testing to see how marketing the watch as a device to complement the phone will fare. In other words, by selling the two products together apple is indicating to consumers that the watch is necessary is order to fully utilize the phone.
