As a leader in the high tech industry, Apple continues to innovate and update new and current products.  Today, Apple users are anxious to learn of Apple’s release of its latest operating system, iOS 10.3. The question is, what will be different of Apple’s latest version?

The iOS 10.3 will benefit both users and developers.  After Apple released its latest wireless headphones, AirPods, customers found it difficult to locate them if they went missing.  Apple resolved this issue with the iOS 10.3.  Users will now be able to locate their AirPods by using the “Locate My iPhone” app.  Not only will the AirPods emit a noise, but the app displays a map where the AirPods are located.  The iOS 10.3 will also feature, Apple File System.  Files will now offer stronger encryption and optimized for flash and SSD storage.

Developers will also benefit from the updated iOS.  Apple has now allowed developers to make changes to apps at anytime, instead of submitting an update.  In addition, developers may now respond to customer reviews in iOS App Store. Apple made headlines with the acquisition of Workflow. Although terms are not yet known, Workflow is an app that automates frequently performed actions on its devices. It was only a matter of time, with Workflow receiving an Apple Design award in 2015 for its “outstanding” accessibility features. Additionally, it is expected the app will be used to help the functionality of Apple’s voice over assistant, Siri.

In other Apple related news, the new iPad has recently been made available for pre-order. Interesting to note is the price point, $329, making it the cheapest retina display device released by Apple to date. Some are surprised at Apple’s seemingly low price point and decrease in gross profit margins. No need to be alarmed though, as the iPad is seen as a recurring revenue stream. Due to the nature of the device, users must download and purchase applications from the App Store. With Apple’s latest push to increase their service revenue, it comes as no surprise.

On February 26, 2017, I Know First wrote an article discussing the iPhone’s finger-printless feature. Today, more developing news has come out about where the new 3D sensors are going to be manufactured.

A French news site iGeneration reports that STMicroelectronics will be manufacturing the 3D sensors required for the iPhone 8. It will be done at the Grenoble factory, giving the ability to identify a user from their face.

As a result, such a big transformation for Apple, can go two ways. First, consumers may be so used to the fingerprint sensor, that it could backfire. Or, consumers may find it a much safer, and secure feature.  In fact, this could place Apple ahead of its competitors.

Production for the iPhone 8 is scheduled to begin in Septembers 2017. A date close to the holiday season.  Hence, some worry the iPhone 8 might not be released in time for the festive season. Therefore, Apple will be under pressure to make its pre-Christmas release.

This is a major opportunity for Apple to break into an entirely new market, but could have an opposite effect on the company.

Apple Stock News: Fingerprint-less iPhone 8?

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $136.66 on Friday, February 24, 2017. It had a gain of 0.1% from its previous close of $136.53 per share.

Apple has used TouchID for fingerprint verification for the last few years. With the presumed removal of the physical home key on the iPhone 8, the expectation is that it will read your fingerprint through the glass of the screen. Rumors suggest that Apple will drop TouchID in favor of facial recognition.

Apple Stock News

It’s worth remembering that any new technology introduced into Apple’s smartphone has a high chance to have been seen before in competitors’ handsets. It might be repackaged as new to the iPhone, but the advances in the iPhone 8 aren’t always surprising.

The argument is that Apple seldomly is the first with new technology.  However, Apple takes the time to perfect the technological advances and have them available in an accessible way. That’s a great press spin, but the issue is more about minimizing risk rather than chasing critical acclaim.

By taking away from what is well known to their consumers, Apple is taking a major risk. The subtle changes to each new iPhone have been working well for them, so why should they change their way to match Android users? The answer is that Apple seeks opportunities in the market, and looks to grab them with both hands, without following other companies strategies.

Only time will say how the iPhone 8 will appeal to the market.

Apple could announce the release of Apple Watch 3 as early as September 2017. Although price is still unknown, the watch could be priced at £369 mark, as its previous releases.

We expect that the Apple Watch 3 will feature a front facing camera that will be used for selfies or FaceTime calls. Another common thought is that Apple will introduce 3G or 4G capabilities to the Watch, in order to make it more independent from the iPhone.  With these new features and upgrading the watch to be lighter, faster, and have a longer battery life, Apple hopes to generate interest and stimulate Apple Watch sales.

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $135.67 on Friday, February 17, 2017 with a 0.24% gain, from its previous close of $135.34 per share.

This week Apple surpassed Samsung in market share during the fourth quarter of 2016. Now, new data from Canalys offers up a closer look at the smartphone market and China. Apparently, Apple is struggling to keep up with younger manufacturers such as Xiaomi.

Apple Stock News

Smartphone shipments in China hit 131.6 million during the fourth quarter of 2016. That’s the largest quarter total in history for the Chinese market. According to Canalys, smartphone shipments in China hit 476.5 million during 2016, an increase of 11.4 percent year-over-year.

In 2016, Xiaomi shipped 51.4 million units to take the fourth spot in the market. Apple, on the other hand, shipped 43.8 million smartphones, a decline of 18.2 percent compared to the year before. Due to its drop, Apple fell to be the fifth largest smartphone manufacturer in China, while Xiaomi leapfrogged to become third overall.

Although Apple shipped less smartphones this year, CEO Tim Cook remains optimistic about Apple’s future in China. Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri explained during Apple’s most recent earnings call that China represents a huge driver of growth. Specifically, Apple points to China as a driver of its ever-growing Services sector.

AAPL closed at $132.12 on Friday, February 10, 2017 well above $109 price Warren Buffett paid for his Apple shares in last May. I Know First wrote an article on May 23rd, 2016, explaining the bullish outlook the algorithm made for AAPL and also explaining Buffett’s decision.

2017 promises a year where iPhone will have major upgrades. It’s already known about its radical redesign, but now there are further details on what could be its most significant new feature – and the additional cost it brings…

Apple 8

Apple Stock News

In a new report obtained by 9to5Mac, Kuo says Apple will finally introduce wireless charging across its upcoming iPhone ranges. This will double up with fast wired charging. However, there is a downside that comes with this news. Kuo says the introduction of wireless charging will lead to price hikes.

The main reason for this is the wireless charging component inside the phones. It creates a lot of heat and Apple has had to add a new graphite layer to protect the 3D Touch sensor behind the screen.

Apple appears to be going all out to bring the Wow Factor back to the iPhone range after sticking with essentially the same external design for three generations. If the company succeeds, a $1,000 price point is unlikely to keep committed Apple fans away and it will also see US prices catch up with some of the price hikes Apple made in other countries with the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus last year.

The pressure for Apple to perform in 2017 has stepped up after Galaxy S8 leaks revealed Samsung is also planning a smartphone redesign and Google will be back with the second generation of its Pixel and Pixel XL.
