Apple Stock News: Apple’s Valuation To New Highs With IPhone X

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $160.47 per share on October 17th, 2017. It generated a profit of 0.36% from its previous close on October 16th, 2017, when it closed at $159.88 per share.

As we are getting closer to November 3rd, iPhone X’s launching date, Apple’s manufacturing partners released their first shipments of the handsets. Customers seems to be very anxious to purchase the iPhone X and this, consequently, may drive Apple’s valuation to new heights.

Apple’s profits may boost due to the higher prices assigned to this new iPhone generation. Many analysts raised the Company’s ratings. Daniel Ives from GBH Insights expects that there will be sufficient uptake of the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X for the next 12 to 18 months, which may in turn leave the stock price to range between $160 and $175. Ives believes that the iPhone X product cycle can be the strongest iPhone product cycle to date.

KeyBanc Capital Markets also raised its rating for Apple shares. According to Andy Hargreaves, there will be a “strong high-end demand” for the newest iPhone, which will favor investors sentiment over at least the next few quarters. Furthermore, the KeyBanc analyst predicts a gross profit margin of 39.5% and $11.68 of earnings per share for the fiscal 2018.

Hence, as Hargreaves said, Apple is a franchise with subscription-like qualities and not a regular hardware business, which support the Company’s position in a strong range.

Apple Stock News: Holiday Season Won’t Impress, But Future Still Solid

Holiday Season Won’t Impress, But Future Still Solid

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $156.99 per share on October 13th, 2017. It generated a profit of 0.63% from its previous close on October 12th, 2017, when it closed at $156.00 per share.

Production problems will likely hamper the supply of the iPhone X in the holiday quarter and first quarter of 2018.  This can be seen already with the first batch of 46,500 units that Foxconn just started to ship.  First batches of previous models were significantly higher than 46,500 units.  Apple has reportedly run into major issues mass producing the True Depth camera sensor that is a part of the new Face ID system.  This is unfavorable news because the demand is definitely there right now.  In a recent survey, over 70% of prospective iPhone X buyers plan to buy the phone very soon or before the end of the year.  It remains to be seem just how much of that demand will go unfulfilled in the coming months.

The short term narrative for Apple is not strong.  Q4 2017 and Q1 2018 could very easily have falling unit sales YoY.  This is also happening in a growing market.  Apple will likely lose market share.  But what matters is profits.  For the iPhone X, there is still some uncertainty on whether it will be a net plus or net minus gross margin-wise compared to the previous generation iPhone.  However, most analysts seem to be in the stable or net plus camp.  It is known that the component costs for the X model increased drastically from previous years, but so did the selling price.  We also don’t know if Apple negotiated better prices with its suppliers.

Longer Term

Longer term, the Apple story is solid.  Many consumers are still going to upgrade their handsets and the iPhone X has truly excited consumers.  Assuming the X model won’t hurt the profit margin, it should be a good year for Apple.  Not to mention that more than half of consumers plan on buying the $1,149 256GB X model as opposed to the $999 64GB X model.  That should give the profit margin a boost.

In other news, Qualcomm Inc has filed lawsuits in China seeking an injunction against the manufacture and sale of the Apple iPhone in the world’s biggest market.  The suits were filed in a Beijing intellectual property court where the claim was patent infringement.  Apple along with many other major companies are in a global legal battle on the practice of charging a percentage of the total price of products as a licensing fee for using patents, a practice that benefits Qualcomm immensely.

Lastly, a recent survey bodes well for the Apple Watch sales.  15% of iPhone users said they plan to buy the product along with a new iPhone.

Apple Stock News: Unifying User Experience With Face ID Technology

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $155.84 per share on October 9th, 2017. It generated a profit of 0.35% from its previous close on October 6th, 2017, when it closed at $155.3 per share.

Rumors are being spread that the next model of the iPad Pro, to be released next year, will include Apple’s Face ID technology. According to historically accurate analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, of KGI Securities, the upcoming generation of iPad Pro will come with depth-sensing cameras, which are already present in iPhone X, allowing this new facial recognition tech to be available.

The expectations are that the TrueDepth camera will only be offered on the iPad Pro models and not in the cheaper ones. This tech hasn’t yet been tested and approved by customers, since the iPhone X will only hit stores on November 3rd, 2017.

Despite this, Ming believes that the 2018 iPhones, non-X models, might also adopt the Face ID technology. Everything depends on the success of the tech after this year’s release.

Implementing Face ID on iPad Pro would unify user experience across Apple’s mobile devices, therefore, boosting Apple’s competitiveness. Once all high-end iOS devices are equipped with the same advanced technology, Apple’s ecosystem development will also benefit.

Apple Stock News: Apple Pay Rise with Visa & MasterCard Terminal Requirements

Apple Stock News:

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $159.78 per share on August 22nd, 2017. It generated a return of 0.20% from its previous close on August 23rd, 2017, when it closed at $159.98 per share.

Over the next five years, the share of payments made by Apple Pay will increase significantly. The world’s biggest card processing companies are Visa and MasterCard. They will require using contactless technology in payment terminals almost everywhere by 2020, according to Juniper Research report.

The lack of compatible terminals caused the slow spread of Apple Pay in USA technology. Also the reluctance of some retailers to establish terminals on time.

The growth of contactless payments can also be stimulated by shoppers. Bank cards with a chip have spread widely and replace magnetic strips. Customers want to reduce payment processing time on payment terminals.

Some benefits of Apple Pay for customers:

  • The simple system that works with customers everyday devices.
  • It is safe as only because of Touch ID or a passcode on iPhone and iPad. The card information isn’t shared and securely replaced with substitute digital account identifier.
  • Customer can easily manage previous transactions and ten last available on the device.

In retail, according to the forecast by 2022, the number of contactless payments will amount to 34%, compared to 2% this year. On a global scale, growth can rise from 15% to 53%. Such payments are very popular in Japan, Great Britain and Poland.

Some benefits for small business:

  • Increased security and privacy for customers.
  • Additional opportunity to compete, when mobile payments are mainstream.
  • Apple Pay provides a simpler payments environment for customers.

Apple Pay will appear in 4 more countries this fall and will be able to strengthen its positions when the new iOs 11 system implements a new technology of individual payments. Thus, Apple will potentially get into the revenue of such companies as Paypal and Square.

Apple Stock News: Intel launches 8th Gen Core GPUs suitable for MacBooks

Apple Stock News: Intel launches 8th Gen Core GPUs suitable for MacBooks

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $157.21 per share on August 21th, 2017. It generated a loss of 0.29% from its previous close on August 20th, 2017, when it closed at $157.50 per share.

12 years have been passed since Apple’s transition to Intel processors. This Monday Aug., 21st, Intel presented us 8th Gen family of chips, which can be installed in 2018 MacBook and MacBook Pros refresh.

The four processors launched yesterday, are for use in notebooks and all-in-one desktop systems. They were developed with a thermal design power (TDP) of 15 Watts, which means low temperatures during work. New chips can keep the MacBook battery life up to 10 hours and they doubled processing power of processors released five years ago.

Two new Core i7 chips, and two new i5 chips show impressive 40% speed improvement, compared to last Gen. As Intel says, due to added two extra cores to them and manufacturing process improvements.

The new chips can handle 4K video, VR, 3D, and other recent innovations on a platform-wide level. The integrated HD 620 graphics built into the last generation of U Series processors is also getting rebranded to reflect that change in focus as UHD 620 graphics.

While it’s the “8th generation” processor family, these are not using the “Cannon Lake” architecture. In fact a refresh of “Kaby Lake”. The main aspect is that at the same price and power Intel will now be moving its product lines up to quad-cores with hyper threading. This gives a 100% gain in cores and 100% gain in threads.

Option of 32 gigabyte RAM is potentially possible in a future MacBook Pro. If Apple uses chips with a 10-nanometer architecture – “Cannon Lake”. Intel is thinking to be shipping the first of them at the start of 2018.

Apple Stock News: iOS 11 Is Focused On Application Performance

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $157.50 per share on August 18th, 2017. It generated a loss of 0.23% from its previous close on August 17th, 2017, when it closed at $157.86 per share.

Apple Stock News

Apple will release its new operating system version known as iOS11 in about a month. iOS11 will only offer applications that run on 64-bit. This means that all new applications will operate at a higher performance level than previous applications that were supported by 32-bit. A 64-bit processor can address far more memory than a 32-bit processor.

Apple’s iPad Pro line of tablets are already at 4GB of memory, and it its likely that expanded memory will come to the iPad line in the near future. It is also possible that Apple will increase memory consumption within their newer iPhone lines.

Consequently, when the time comes whereby both the iPad and iPhone lines are operating at a minimum of 4GB of memory, the use of 32-bit processors will be drawing closer to extinction. App developers can feel free to take advantage of the additional memory that the Apple products will be capable of using.

Apple has been nearing towards this software transition for a while. In 2013 it offered its first 64-bit smartphone to to customers. It appears that 32-bit iPhones will be obsolete by late 2017 or early 2018.

Apple Stock News: Apple is Ready to Spend $1 Billion on Original Content Production

Apple appears to be taking original content production very seriously. On June the company announced the hirings of Jamie Ehrlicht and Zack Van Amburg, who were top executives at Sony Television. Today, the Wall Street Journal reported that Apple has readied a $1 billion budget to ‘procure and produce’ content over the next year.

The report notes that new producers Erlicht and Van Amburg started their work in early August and have taken over video production responsibilities from the Apple Music team. The execs have already held meetings with Hollywood to find shows to acquire.

Additionally, the report says that the budget is about half what HBO spent on production last year. Apple could launch up to ten new shows, with Apple SVP Eddy Cue stating that they have ambitions to offer shows that rival Game of Thrones.

It is the first time that Apple has actually been giving priority to original content efforts. With a large budget and premiere talent leading the video programming division, it is likely that the quality of Apple’s in-development programming will be higher.

It isn’t clear yet how the new shows will be released to customers. Apple currently hosts Planet of the Apps and Carpool Karaoke on Apple Music, but it seems likely that the company will double-down on a true, dedicated, internet TV service with new initiatives.

Apple Stock News: TSMC tend to be sole supplier for A11/A12 chips

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $149.50 per share on, July 28th, 2017. It generated a loss of 1.06% from its previous close on July 27st, 2017, when it closed at $150.56 per share.

Apple stock news

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is going to secure orders for the A12 processor, a 7-nanometer chip that will be produced for use in the 2018 iPhone generation. While reports earlier suggested Samsung had secured a deal to make the processors, it could be just rumours.

Wafer-level chip packaging created by TSMC will make the firm’s 7-nanometer FinFET technology more competitive than Samsung’s equivalent. The technology innovation will apparently cut Samsung’s chances of regaining application processor orders.

TSMC has reportedly begun mass production of 10nm chips in the third quarter by fulfilling orders for Apple’s A11 chips. TSMC still going to be the sole supplier of A11 chips for the upcoming iPhone refresh, which sales might start in October or November.

The schedule for production and delivery is about the same as for the iPhone 7. The company is going to deliver 100 million A11 chips before the end of 2017. It is slightly ahead of what was delivered by the end of 2017 for the A10 Fusion. The iPhone 7 family utilizes the A10 Fusion quad-core system on a 16nm chip.

While it is possible for Samsung to take on some of the orders for the A12 chip, it is unlikely for Apple to completely switch away from TSMC. Apple can split the order between the two firms while they embark on using the new 7-nanometer process. Apple has used both TSMC and Samsung as processor suppliers, with the A9 used in the iPhone 6s produced by both companies, but since then, Apple has solely used TSMC for its A-series chips.

A switch to a smaller chip size, such as the move from a 10-nanometer to a 7-nanometer process, typically introduces a number of benefits. Aside from a speed boost, this can also make the processors more power efficient than previous generations, in turn increasing battery life.

Apple Stock News: Impending iPhone 8 Release Date

Apple Stock News

For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $152.09 per share on, July 24th, 2017. It generated a return of 1.21% from its previous close on July 21st, 2017, when it closed at $150.27 per share.

apple stock news

The highly-anticipated September 2017 release date of the iPhone 8 is approaching. Lately, new leaks, hype, speculation, and information are being released or spread about this new smartphone installment. These leaks continue to reveal key design details and features. However, official statements and releases are being withheld until September.

The iPhone 8 will be priced between $1,000 to $1,200. Thus, making the iPhone 8 the highest priced phone to be sold for Apple. It is no less reported to be revolutionary and unprecedented, incorporating Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, waterproofing, wireless charging and the absence of the headphone jack (a feature present on the iPhone 7), just to name a few of the most attractive new features.

It appears Tim Cook and Apple are trying to pack in as much cutting-edge technology as possible. Hence, the unusually-high expected selling price. Now, although the iPhone 8 might simply appear to be just yet another extension of the iPhone product line (which it is), what is missing is that the iPhone 8 represents a paradigm shift in the smartphone business. This new addition is about luxury, fashion statements, new technology, and about changing the game.

Ultimately, as long as everything goes according to plan, the release of the iPhone 8 may very well be the windfall of sales and profitability that Apple so desperately has been searching for.
