Apple Stock News: Foldable iPhone

Apple Stock News: The foldable iPhone will feature two batteries with capacities of 1,921 mAh and 2,962 mAh (total 4,883 mAh), with suppliers predicting 4,800–5,000 mAh. This is comparable to the Pixel Fold (5,015), Z Fold 7 (4,400), iPhone 18 Pro (4,288) and Pro Max (5,567), but lower than earlier rumors of 5,400–5,800 mAh (possibly test data). Apple is focusing on power efficiency and high-density cells. Expected are a 7.8‑inch inner display and a 5.5‑inch cover screen, Touch ID, an A20 chip, and a C2 modem. The launch is scheduled for September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro under the name “iPhone Ultra” priced at $2,500–$3,000.
Chinese Memory Chips

Apple is testing DRAM chips from China’s CXMT and has already passed technical validation, but no commercial contract has been signed yet. CXMT is the world’s fourth-largest DRAM maker (11% market share, projected to reach 15% by 2028). Due to memory price hikes (+55–60% in early 2026), Apple wants a fourth supplier to gain leverage in negotiations with Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. CXMT and YMTC are on the Pentagon’s list, but CXMT is not on the Entity List, so purchases are technically permitted; Apple is seeking assurances from U.S. authorities that CXMT won’t be added to that list in the future. A similar previous attempt with YMTC failed due to Washington’s opposition. CEO Tim Cook is personally lobbying the idea (using Chinese memory only for devices sold in the Chinese market), but success is not guaranteed.
Manufacturing in India

India has eliminated import duties on smartphone components (wireless charging, screens, lithium batteries) through 2029. This benefits Apple by cutting MagSafe costs and easing local assembly. Apple is shifting iPhone production from China to India — a quarter of all iPhones are now assembled there, including the entire iPhone 17 lineup. Foxconn invested $1.5 billion in expansion, and Tata Electronics has become a key manufacturing partner.
