Apple Stock News: Industry Shift

Apple Stock News: The upcoming OLED MacBook Pro (dubbed “MacBook Ultra”) is expected to drive the hybrid OLED laptop display market, valued at $4 billion. For the first time, Apple will use a hybrid OLED architecture (oxide TFT and tandem layers), already featured in iPad Pro, offering higher brightness, improved power efficiency, and a longer lifespan. The panels will be manufactured by Samsung Display.
Analysts predict that by 2033, such displays will account for 89.5% of the market. Rumors are also confirmed that the laptop will feature a touchscreen, a thinner and lighter chassis, and a pill-shaped camera cutout instead of a notch. The device will be powered by M6 chips. Due to the global memory chip shortage, the launch, previously expected for late 2026, has been pushed back to early 2027. A higher price point is also anticipated.
Smart Glasses

Apple’s new head, John Ternus, has revised the company’s headset strategy, canceling plans for a second-generation Vision Pro and a lighter Vision Air model. Apple is now focused on two types of smart glasses.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the products in development are:
- AI-powered smart glasses (a competitor to Meta Ray-Ban), expected to launch in 2027.
- AR glasses with a display (using optical waveguides), with a release not expected before 2029.
The analyst considers this the right move as the company redirects resources to products with greater mass-market potential. Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman confirms the cancellation of the Vision Air and clarifies that the “smart glasses” will launch in late 2027, while a cheaper and lighter Vision Pro is unlikely to appear before late 2028 or 2029. However, Gurman claims that the Vision Pro 2 is “on ice” but still being tested. John Ternus will officially lead Apple starting September 1, 2026.
Doubled Production

The new MacBook Neo from Apple has proven to be extremely popular. According to Tim Cook, demand for it is “off the charts,” which forced the company to double its production target to 10 million units in 2026. The laptop has attracted a record number of new Mac users. The success of the model, which starts at $599 and runs on the A18 Pro chip, has not gone unnoticed by competitors: Dell had to release a new XPS 13 to compete. A second-generation MacBook Neo with the A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM is expected to be released next year.
