Apple Stock News: Clamshell-Style Foldable iPhone

Apple Stock News: Apple abandoned the idea of a flip-style foldable iPhone because the design did not offer any new usage scenarios, with its main feature being just compactness when folded. The central seam created problems with internal space, limiting battery capacity and reducing room for the camera. If Apple wants to release a smaller iPhone, they will prefer a regular reduced-size version rather than a folding one. The company previously considered such a device twice but ultimately decided against implementing it each time. This decision is linked to low demand for compact iPhone models—such as the commercially unsuccessful iPhone mini series.

Apple increased iPhone production in India by 53% in 2025, making a quarter of its flagships there to avoid Chinese tariffs. It produced 55 million units, compared to 36 million the previous year. This move helps diversify manufacturing amid US-China trade tensions. Despite progress, costs remain higher due to weaker infrastructure and supply chains. Apple relies on India’s production-linked incentives, which are expiring soon, prompting calls for further government support. All current iPhone 17 models, including high-end versions, are now made in India along with older models for domestic and export markets.

Apple has completed development of the budget iPhone 18e model, even though the iPhone 17e has not yet gone on sale. It’s expected that the device will receive the A20 chip and possibly the Dynamic Island feature, which was previously attributed to the iPhone 17e. The release of the iPhone 18e is scheduled for spring 2027, together with the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 models.
