Apple will use TSMC’s basic 2-nanometer N2 process instead of the advanced N2P variant for its upcoming A20 and M6 chips. These chips are expected to debut in new iPhone and MacBook Pro models later this year. While competitors like Qualcomm and MediaTek may opt for N2P to achieve higher clock speeds, Apple seems content with N2 due to its lower costs and adequate performance gains. Additionally, supply constraints and timing issues related to N2P’s late start of mass production contribute to Apple’s decision.
