Apple Stock News: OLED Display to Launch

Apple Stock News: Apple will introduce its first MacBook Pro models with OLED displays at the end of 2026. Samsung Display will become the panel supplier due to investments in Gen 8.6 OLED production lines. These lines allow producing larger panels, reducing costs and energy consumption. The transition to OLED is expected to bring several benefits: screen brightness will increase, contrast will improve, black colors will deepen, and device autonomy will rise. The new design of the MacBook Pro aims to create the thinnest possible device without sacrificing battery life or introducing new features. There is uncertainty regarding the timing of the first OLED MacBook Pro release, caused by Mark Gurman’s statement that Apple does not intend to update the Mac line with M5 chips in 2025. If the introduction of M5 models is delayed until 2026, then the release of the first MacBook Pro with an OLED screen may shift to 2027. However, there is no definitive information yet, and Mark Gurman remains silent about potential changes to Apple’s plans.
Cellular Connectivity

Apple is exploring integrating cellular connectivity into MacBooks starting possibly in 2026 using its second-generation C2 modem, which supports faster mmWave technology. Apple previously experimented with cellular-equipped MacBook Pro prototypes in 2007 but never brought them to market. Meanwile, arch rival Microsoft is not waiting around to find out – the company is launching its first 5G-enabled Surface laptop this month.
American Manufacturing Program

Apple increased its investment in U.S. manufacturing to $600 billion, adding $100 billion on top of the previously committed $500 billion. The company launched the American Manufacturing Program (AMP), aimed at advancing high-tech production in the U.S. in cooperation with partners such as Corning, Coherent, GlobalWafers America, among others. A portion of the funds ($2.5 billion) will be allocated towards expanding collaboration with Corning to build the world’s largest and most advanced premium smartphone production line in Kentucky. It’s anticipated that soon, all protective glass covers for iPhones and Apple Watches sold globally will be produced in the U.S.
