Apple Stock News: Titanium Frame

Apple Stock News: According to analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 Air will feature a titanium frame, unlike other iPhone 17 models, which are expected to have aluminum frames. The reason for choosing titanium for the iPhone 17 Air remains unclear, considering that aluminum is lighter and more suitable for a light and thin design. However, titanium is stronger than aluminum, which might explain its use to enhance the reliability of the thin construction. Previously, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 17 Air’s frame would combine titanium and aluminum. Official information is anticipated at Apple’s September presentation.

Crease-Free

Samsung Display will provide Apple with “crease-free” displays for the upcoming foldable iPhone, according to Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. To eliminate the crease on the inner display, the foldable iPhone will incorporate a metal plate that distributes and controls the stress caused by folding. Main supplier of these metal plates will be Fine M-Tec. Despite using similar components, Samsung’s current foldable phones still exhibit noticeable creases. Mass production of the foldable iPhone is planned for the second half of 2026, suggesting a possible release later that year. Other features include a 7.8-inch inner display, 5.5-inch outer display, dual rear cameras, single front camera, and a Touch ID power button.

Digital Services Tax

The European Commission has abandoned plans to introduce a significant digital tax targeting major tech firms like Apple. Instead, it proposed three new levies: an EU-wide excise tax on tobacco, a tax on e-waste, and a corporate tax on large companies earning over €50 million annually in the EU. The move is believed to be aimed at avoiding disruption to ongoing US-EU trade negotiations.
