Apple Stock News: Apple initiated the prototyping phase of its first foldable iPhone last month, according to DigiTimes. The device will go through three prototyping stages (P1-P3), each lasting roughly two months, before entering the engineering verification test (EVT) phase by the end of 2025. Launch is planned for the second half of 2026.Meanwhile, Apple halted development of a foldable iPad due to manufacturing complexities, high costs associated with flexible display technology, and weak consumer demand for large-folding screens. As a result, the first foldable iPhone is slated to debut alongside the iPhone 18 series in fall 2026.

Apple’s plan to increase iPhone production in India faces challenges after Foxconn recalled hundreds of Chinese engineers and technicians from its Indian plants. More than 300 Chinese workers have returned home over the past two months, leaving mainly Taiwan-based employees behind. These departures come amid preparations to scale up production of the upcoming iPhone 17 and construction of a new factory in southern India. Reasons for the move are unclear, though Bloomberg speculates it’s linked to stricter regulations by Chinese authorities regarding tech transfers to India and Southeast Asia. Despite assurances about maintaining product quality, concerns exist over reduced operational efficiency due to the departure of skilled Chinese staff.

Apple has been granted a patent for a new type of image sensor capable of significantly increasing the dynamic range of photo and video capture in future devices—up to the level of the human eye (20–30 stops), exceeding most modern smartphones (13 stops). The patent describes a dual-layer sensor equipped with LOFIC technology, which enables individual pixels to simultaneously capture varying brightness levels within one scene while preserving details even under contrasting lighting conditions (for example, when shooting against a bright window).

Additionally, every pixel incorporates an integrated noise-reduction mechanism that minimizes graininess directly at the hardware level prior to further software processing. Although patents don’t guarantee immediate implementation, they highlight key areas of ongoing research and possible innovations from Apple in the near future.
