Apple Stock News: New HomePod

Apple Stock News: Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has confirmed that a new HomePod model with a screen will go into mass production in the third quarter of 2025. The device is expected to feature a square iPad-like display that can either be attached to a HomePod-style speaker base or mounted on a wall.

The delay in production is attributed to software development issues, including those related to Apple Intelligence. This follows Apple’s recent announcement that the more personalized version of Siri, previewed at WWDC 2024, is taking longer than anticipated and is now scheduled for release within the next year. Additionally, the delay may also relate to ensuring alignment with upcoming software updates such as iOS 19 and possibly a redesign similar to visionOS for the new homeOS operating system.

The smart home hub is rumored to come equipped with a 6-7 inch display and an A18 chip, enabling users to manage smart home devices, make FaceTime calls, utilize the intercom function across different rooms, and potentially act as a home security system with an integrated Apple-designed camera. However, it’s uncertain whether the product will debut by late 2025 or face further delays pushing its launch into 2026.

Advanced Cooling System

The iPhone 17 Pro models will feature a vapor chamber cooling system for improved thermal management. This technology is already used in premium Android smartphones. Initially, it was speculated that the entire iPhone 17 lineup would include this feature, but now it appears that only the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, powered by the A19 Pro processor, will receive it. The front panel design will remain unchanged, while modifications will affect the rear panel and internal components.

The iPhone 17 Pro’s camera will undergo a redesign, replacing the traditional square module with an aluminum camera block. The new iPhone 17 Air model, which replaces the Plus version, will also incorporate a horizontal camera block, albeit with a single lens. The basic iPhone 17 model will retain the current camera layout. The iPhone 17 series is expected to be unveiled in September of next year.

Smart Glasses

Apple is considering launching smart glasses similar to Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses. These glasses won’t be a full-fledged AR device like Apple Vision Pro, but they will integrate AI, microphones, and cameras to enhance the user experience.

Previously, Apple attempted to develop AR-capable glasses that resembled regular eyewear, but the project was put on hold earlier this year due to insufficient processing power and battery life of the iPhone. Later, Apple explored using the Mac as a power source, but ultimately abandoned the idea. Currently, Apple is working on a product combining AirPods with cameras to enable AI features akin to Visual Intelligence found on select iPhone models.
