Apple Stock News: Ban in Indonesia

Apple Stock News: Apple is still unable to sell iPhone 16 models in Indonesia despite agreeing to establish local production facilities because the company hasn’t met the requirements for using local components. On January 7th, Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita met with Apple’s Vice President of Global Government Affairs, Nick Ammann, to discuss the company’s investment proposal. However, Apple’s proposal was deemed insufficient.

Last year, Indonesia banned the sale of iPhone 16s after discovering that Apple did not comply with the country’s 35% local content requirement for smartphones. Subsequently, Apple proposed investing $1 billion in the construction of an AirTag manufacturing plant. Despite agreeing to build this facility on Batam Island, it does not qualify as producing local components for the iPhone.

This week, Apple started selling refurbished iPhone 15 models in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain with a 15% discount. For now, only 128 GB and 256 GB versions are available, but more options are expected soon. Refurbished iPhone 15 Plus, as well as discontinued iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, are also anticipated to become available shortly. All refurbished Apple devices come with a new battery, a new enclosure, and a USB-C cable, along with a one-year warranty that can be extended through AppleCare+.

Apple Vision Pro will soon support NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform, the company announced today. Through collaboration between NVIDIA and Apple, Vision Pro users will be able to access a library of over 2,100 games, including upcoming hits like Avowed and DOOM: The Dark Ages, directly through the Safari browser without needing to install apps or download games. An update to GeForce NOW version 2.0.70 is expected later this month. Additionally, support will be expanded to other mixed reality headsets, such as Meta Quest 3 and Pico.
