Apple Stock News: MacBook Air Models With M4 Chip
Apple Stock News: Apple has several product announcements planned for the first half of next year, including updated MacBook Air models, an iPad 11, an iPhone SE 4, AirTag 2, and new versions of the iPad Air. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the updated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M4 chip are expected to be unveiled earlier than the other products, possibly between January and March via a press release on the Apple Newsroom website. The remaining devices may be announced during Apple’s traditional spring event in March or April.
Earlier this year, Apple indirectly confirmed the upcoming release of new MacBook Air models following the launch of macOS 15.2. The updates are anticipated to focus mainly on internal components such as the transition to the M4 chip, the addition of a Center Stage camera, and the upgrade of ports to Thunderbolt 4.
Bezel-Free iPhone
Apple faces significant technical challenges in creating a fully bezel-free iPhone, with reports indicating that the technology may not be ready by 2026. The company has been collaborating with Samsung Display and LG Display to develop this screen technology, which aims to extend the display seamlessly over the edges without the “magnifying glass effect” common in curved screens.
Technical hurdles include adapting Thin Film Encapsulation (TFE) and Optical Clear Adhesive (OCA), both crucial for protecting and bonding the display. Current OCA solutions struggle with side-view distortions and impact resistance, leading to delays in finalizing discussions with manufacturers. As a result, the introduction of this “zero-bezel” technology on an iPhone is likely to be pushed back beyond 2026.
Smart Home Doorbell With Face ID
Apple is developing a smart home doorbell and lock system with Face ID. This system would allow users to unlock doors using Face ID and would likely integrate with third-party HomeKit locks.
Apple’s doorbell would rival Amazon’s Ring doorbells, emphasizing privacy and security features. It may use Apple’s rumored Wi-Fi chip with a Secure Enclave and could support video capture with HomeKit Secure Video. Gurman suggests the product won’t launch before 2026. Additionally, Apple plans to expand its presence in the smart home market with a hub in 2024 and a HomeKit-enabled indoor security camera.
