Apple has offered to invest approximately $10 million into manufacturing operations in Indonesia to lift the recently imposed ban on iPhone 16 sales. The investment includes establishing a factory in Bandung to produce accessories and components for Apple devices. The proposal has been submitted to Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry for consideration. The ban was introduced because Apple’s local unit did not meet the country’s requirement of 40% local content in smartphones.

The European Commission intends to fine Apple for violating the Digital Markets Act (DMA) requirements for the App Store. Regulators claim that Apple did not allow developers to offer users cheaper prices outside the App Store. In June, the EU accused Apple of breaching the DMA due to its anti-steering rules. In August, Apple made changes to the App Store rules in Europe, allowing developers to inform customers about offers outside the App Store. The amount of the fine is still unknown, but earlier this year, the EU fined Apple $2 billion for anti-competitive practices.
