Apple Stock News: Apple suppliers have ramped up iPhone 16 OLED panel production ahead of its expected September launch. Samsung and LG Display started production in June, boosting output last month. Apple plans to ship around 90 million iPhone 16 units this year, with 120 million OLED panels produced.

By year-end, Samsung is set to supply 80 million panels, and LG 43 million. The panels are being sent to factories to ensure a mid-September release, possibly on September 10. The ‌iPhone 16‌ lineup will resemble the iPhone 15, with larger displays for the Pro models and rumored features like a “Capture” button, faster chips, camera upgrades, Wi-Fi 7, and improved 5G.

Earlier Launch

Apple is reportedly considering launching the iPhone 16 in Korea earlier than usual due to declining demand in China. This would be a significant change, as Korea hasn’t been part of the initial release since the iPhone 3GS in 2009. The iPhone 16 is expected to launch in mid-September, possibly on the 10th, with preparations underway for an early release in Korea.

Typically, new iPhones reach Korea weeks after other markets, partly due to strict certification processes. Despite this, Apple may be shifting its strategy, driven by strong demand in Korea and declining sales in China, where its market share fell from 16% to 14% in the past year.

Coming in September

Apple will launch the iPhone 16 series in September, with a possible release date of Tuesday, September 10. The new iPhones will ship with iOS 18, but Apple’s AI features, dubbed Apple Intelligence, will not be available until iOS 18.1 releases in October. Despite the importance of these AI features, Apple isn’t delaying the iPhone 16 launch. Gurman notes that unlike in 2011, when Apple delayed the iPhone to align with new services like iCloud and Siri, the absence of Apple Intelligence at launch isn’t seen as a significant enough issue to alter the release schedule.
