Apple Stock News: Duty Reductions

Apple Stock News: Apple will benefit from India’s recent reduction in import duties on mobile phones and components. India cut duties on mobile phones, PCBAs, and chargers from 20% to 15%, saving Apple $35–50 million annually. This supports Apple’s increased manufacturing in India, where 14% of iPhones are now made, mainly by Foxconn. Foxconn has also invested in new plants in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The duty reduction is part of India’s strategy to boost its role in the global electronics supply chain. This will make premium Apple models more affordable for Indian consumers.
2TB iPhones

Taiwanese firm TrendForce expects Apple to release iPhones with quad-level cell (QLC) storage by 2026, potentially allowing for 2TB storage capacity. QLC storage is denser and cheaper per gigabyte compared to the triple-level cell (TLC) storage currently used, but it has slower read and write speeds. This technology could be incorporated into iPhone 16, 17, or 18 models. A DigiTimes report earlier this year mentioned Apple evaluating QLC for 1TB iPhone 16 Pro models. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 16 series in September, so we will soon find out if 2TB QLC storage is introduced this year or later.
Ultra-Thin iPhone 17

Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared specs for a new ultra-thin iPhone 17 model rumored for next year. Kuo expects a 6.6-inch display with Dynamic Island, a standard A19 chip, a single rear camera, and an Apple-designed 5G chip. The device will have a titanium-aluminum frame with less titanium than the iPhone 15 Pro models. There will be no iPhone 17 Plus, and this ultra-thin model will focus on design rather than specs. It will not be the highest-end “iPhone 17 Ultra.” Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 series in September 2025, leaving room for more rumors.
