Apple Stock News: Integrating AI

Apple Stock News: Apple announced a partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, enhancing response quality. Apple’s VP, Craig Federighi, mentioned the goal of offering users various AI models, possibly including Google Gemini. Siri will use GPT-4 for free, with no account needed, and subscribers can access additional features. Privacy is maintained by not logging requests and hiding IP addresses. Apple Intelligence features will be testable in the U.S. summer, with iOS 18 expected in September.

Shooting Apple Vision Pro Content

Blackmagic Design introduced the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera for creating spatial video content for Apple’s Vision Pro headset. The camera has a custom 3D lens system with dual 8K sensors, capturing a 180-degree field of view with spatial audio. It offers 8,160 x 7,200 resolution per eye, 16 stops of dynamic range, and supports 3D content at 90 fps. Built with a magnesium alloy chassis and carbon fiber skin, it includes dual 5-inch HDR touchscreens and an external LCD. Connectivity includes 12G-SDI out, 10G Ethernet, USB-C, XLR audio ports, and an 8-pin Lemo connector.

It features an 8TB Blackmagic Media Module, storing about two hours of 8K stereoscopic video, and supports Cloud Store for fast uploads via 10G Ethernet. DaVinci Resolve will be updated to support Vision Pro content, adding an immersive video viewer for editing on 2D monitors or the Vision Pro headset. Pricing is not yet announced, but it may be similar to the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K, priced at $14,995 without a lens.

Calculator App

Apple announced a new Calculator app for iPadOS 18 at WWDC, featuring Apple Pencil support and a Math Notes feature. Math Notes lets users write or type expressions and see instant solutions, assign values to variables, and graph equations with one tap. Notes are saved automatically in a Math Notes folder in the Notes app. The app includes basic and scientific calculators, a History feature, and unit conversions for length, weight, and currencies. The first developer beta of iPadOS 18 is available today, with a public beta in July and an official release in the fall.
