Foxconn recently made the announcement that it had invested $500 million in its Indian subsidiary to expand its operating capabilities there. With stated ambitions to expand production to other devices, including the iPad, Apple and its suppliers now manufacture multiple iPhone models in India, including the new iPhone 14.

Today, Apple announced the addition of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Ireland to the capability of Find My and Emergency SOS through Satellite. Users of the iPhone 14 can now contact emergency services even when there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity, and calls made via the Emergency SOS via Satellite function will be forwarded to nearby emergency services facilities. All iPhone 14 users running iOS 16.1 in supported nations have access to Apple’s Emergency SOS via Satellite service, which is free to use for two years. Through the Find My app, satellite connectivity can also be used to update a Find My position without Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity.
