Apple Stock News: iPad Pro With ‘M2’ Chip and MagSafe Charging Likely to Launch in Fall 2022
Apple Stock News: Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects the next iPad Pro model to launch this fall. Gurman speculated in his “Power On” newsletter that since Apple didn’t unveil a new iPad Pro at its “Peek Performance” event this month, So it is reasonable to expect the new model to arrive between September and November this year. Gurman’s projections seem to imply a longer launch time for the iPad Pro this year, assuming it could be as long as 19 months after the current model. That also means the current 2021 iPad Pros could be one of the longest-running models ever.
Gurman confirmed that he expects the new iPad Pro models to feature MagSafe charging and an “M2” chip. The M2 chip is expected to have the same performance as the M1 but will benefit from increased speed and efficiency thanks to TSMC’s 4-nanometer process. It is also rumored to have an additional GPU core, with 9 – and 10-core GPU options, higher than the 7 – and 8-core GPU options found in the M1 chip.
Apple Stores Will Decline to Repair iPhones Reported as Missing
According to an internal memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple Store and Apple authorized service providers will be alerted if customers report missing iPhones in the GSMA device registry when they are carrying a device to be repaired. The GSMA Device Registry is a global database designed to allow customers to report the loss of their devices when they are lost or stolen. Devices in the database are identified by their unique IMEI number. The IMEI of the iPhone has listed under General > About in the Settings app. If Apple technicians see a message in their internal MobileGenius or GS X systems indicating that the device has been reported missing, they will be instructed to refuse repairs, according to a memo Apple shared on Monday. The new policy should help reduce the number of stolen iPhones taken to Apple for repairs.
