Apple Stock News
For the latest Apple Stock News, AAPL closed at $109.11 on Monday, December 5, 2016 from its previous close of $109.90 before the weekend. This decrease in price of $0.79 resulted in a loss of 0.72%.
Released on September 7th, 2016, the 7th generation of iPhone is sending mixed messages from consumers and Apple is seeing it in the numbers. As Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals close, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 SE did not perform as anticipated. Both of these models are light weight and featured at a lower cost than its comparable iPhone 7 Plus. According to Apple, they also allow for two extra hours of battery usage. So why aren’t Apple lovers lined up? The iPhone 7 Plus, released on the very same day, out shined them.
With a wider and more colorful HD display, and most importantly, its newly introduced dual lens camera, iPhone 7 Plus generated a high demand. Its dual lens camera is not offered in any other iPhone which makes it stand out above the rest. Even though the iPhone 7 is more expensive and heavier in comparison, buyers have proven that they are willing to pay for quality and new features that they will use. In this day and age, where people are living in the moment and capturing their every day lives, a dual lens camera is improving the look of their memories. A decrease in iPhone 7 sales are not only due to the iPhone 7 Plus dual lens camera, but also its new headphone input. There has been no change in design of the phone for the third straight year, although, a highly controversial move on Apple’s part may have influenced buyers. Apple made the decision to remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7. While it may seem inconvenient to use the headphone jack adapter and lose the ability to charge the phone and listen simultaneously, it is a step for Apple into the future for new designs. Due to its weak demand, Apple will be reducing the total number of iPhone 7 units produced from the originally expected 59 million to 53 million.
